Blue foam officially attacked BYU resulting, in hundreds of blue-lipped smiles, on blue smurf faces, in fields of very blue foam.

?Who could resist six inches of blue foam madness?? said Camille Witbeck, BYUSA event lead of True Blue Football. ?You can just go crazy and get excited for football.?

True Blue Football dominated Helaman Fields Friday (Oct. 20, 2006) in an effort to get students excited about the homecoming game.

Students participated in activities played in blue foam such as co-ed flag football, slip n? slide, volleyball and Frisbee, that all re-sulted in becoming blue from head to toe.

Besides the main events, students ate blue cookies, wrestled, slipped and danced to hip new tunes. Smiles and laughter were a pre-dominate theme for everyone who participated.

?It has always been a fantasy of mine to be a smurf,? said Aaron Moore, from Gilmer, Texas. ?My dream has come true.?

Another student covered in blue foam was having the time of her life.

?True Blue Football is the best thing since God invented cute men!? said Sally Johnson, a junior, from Portland, Ore.

Although the foam was fun to play in, most students agreed it tasted terrible.

?I recommend not sliding with your mouth open,? said Michelle Page, 19, from Colorado Springs. ?It?s disgusting. It tastes like a mix between old onions and vomit.?

By the end of the event, all the teams that participated in flag football graciously accepted the results.

?I?m spitting blue from the cookies,? said Lewis Goodrum, 18, from Austin, Texas. ?I?m seeing blue on everybody, and I?m feeling blue after our loss.?

The winning team of the tournament, the Smash Hers, was excited about their big win and attributes their success to the support they received from the BYU Cheerleading Squad.

?We took on teams of all men and won,? said AJ Baadsgaard, a member from the winning team, from Spanish Fork. ?Our girls (BYU Cheerleaders) destroyed them.?

True Blue Football was an event filled with school spirit and those who attended will never forget the experience.

?It?s like a slimy, gooey and warm experience,? said Crystal Bentley, a senior majoring in broadcast journalism. ?It?s like a Jacuzzi outside and you feel really happy because there is music and you?re relaxing, laughing and sliding.?
