LAS VEGAS — The WCC Mascot Madness semifinal round brought us our first overwhelming (but predictable, considering our readership) upset. Cosmo the Cougar easily defeated Willie the Pepperdine Wave with 93 percent of the vote. In the other matchup, Diego Torero continued his tournament domination, earning 80 percent of votes cast to beat Pacific’s Powercat.
So now we’re down to two. Four-seed Cosmo may actually be the favorite in this final, despite having a lower seed than his opponent. On the other hand, Diego has breezed through this competition. He also won his quarterfinal with more than 80 percent, so you can’t count him out either.
