The BYU women”s tennis will be on the road this weekend facing two ranked teams for the second week in a row.

The Cougars defeated No. 75 Kansas and No. 55 Denver last weekend in Provo.

According to head coach Craig Manning, conditioning was a main factor in their wins as the Cougars won 7-0 over the Jayhawks and beat the Denver Pioneers 5-2.

This weekend the Cougars will face No. 26 Notre Dame and No. 66 Wisconsin.

Manning said the team is anxious to play some good teams away from home.

“We”re really looking forward to playing some good quality teams on their own courts,” Manning said. “I just want the girls to stay relaxed and have fun this week.”

The Cougars are currently ranked No. 20 in the nation, and they will continue to work on conditioning and game execution, according to Manning.

“These will be tough road matches, so we”ll have to play our best,” he said. “We can”t play our best if we”re not relaxed.”

The University of Notre Dame women”s tennis team beat No. 69 Virginia Tech Sunday to improve to 5-1 on the season. The Fighting Irish team includes two nationally ranked singles players, No. 14 Alicia Salas and No. 88 Christian Thompson.

The Wisconsin Badgers are also coming off a win, as they defeated Marquette on Valentine”s Day to improve to 5-4 on the season.

This is the second trip of the season for the Cougars to Madison, Wis. The team competed in the ITA National Indoor Tournament earlier in February.
