This week and next, Harold B. Lee Library hours will stretch into the early morning to accommodate students who are preparing for finals. The hours of midnight to 2 a.m. at the library can be marked by students furiously typing, taking periodic trips to the vending machines, and of course — sleeping.

Every first Friday of the month, the city of Provo puts on a public art show called the “Art Stroll,” featuring local artists and their work. Artwork is displayed in the interiors of participating businesses along Center Street, where spectators can go inside to view it. All artwork is also for sale to the public.

“Thrifting” — shopping for clothes at second-hand clothing stores — has become a popular trend among college students. Savers, Deseret Industries, Plato's Closet and Lu's Resale Boutique are some thrift shops around Provo.

Education Week attracts thousands of life-long students from all over the country. Some travelled with their recreational vehicles and set up camp in the Richards Building and Smith Fieldhouse parking lots.

The JKR Gallery at 1675 N Freedom Blvd., Bldg. 7B, in Provo is displaying its 2021 Business Card Art Show, seen here on Aug. 4. The art show contains hundreds of pieces of art the size of small business cards created by numerous different artists.

The University Place mall in Orem hosted a Harry Potter birthday celebration on Saturday, July 31. Guests enjoyed a jukebox musical concert featuring a quartet of Hogwarts students and other presentations starring students from Beauxbatons, Durmstrang and Ilvermorny wizarding schools. Butter3eer, Taylor Maid and other vendors offered Butterbeer, magic wands and hats. Children were invited to play Quidditch, meet a reticulated python and participate in a Harry Potter joke contest.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has resumed production of its Book of Mormon videos after a yearlong hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Tribe, a Utah-based event planning company, sponsored a Pioneer Day carnival at Provo Town Centre Mall on Saturday, July 24. Along with several thrill rides, the carnival had mechanical bull riding, a car show, axe-throwing and to cap the night, a concert with a fireworks show.
