Thanksgiving Point unveils Tree of Life exhibit

Nearly a decade after her first sculpture exhibit debuted at Thanksgiving Point’s Ashton Gardens, Angela Johnson unveiled her second collection of sculptures. Her newest exhibit features 130 life-sized bronze statues, offering the artist’s interpretation of the story of Lehi’s Dream in the Book of Mormon.

People going past Buswell Bronze in Pleasant Grove, Utah, likely don't know it's there. The business is set away from the main part of town, just one nondescript warehouse in a cluster of others. Yet it's here that Blair Buswell — a former BYU football player and current professional sculptor — practices his craft, creating official Pro Football Hall of Fame busts, larger-than-life wagon trains and other western art and even busts of Church presidents for the Conference Center.

BYU MOA acquires casts of famous 'Gates of Paradise'

The BYU Museum of Art recently acquired plaster casts of Ghiberti's 'Gates of Paradise.' The original artwork decorates doors on the San Giovanni Baptistery in Florence, Italy, but the MOA will take charge of preserving and displaying the casts in Provo.

Open Studios Night: MFA and BFA studios open to the public

Open Studios Night allowed the public to view art pieces by BYU students working on their BFA or MFA. The studios were located on the fourth floor of the JKB and B66, the building for sculpture and ceramics, across from the Wilkinson Student Center. Refreshments were provided at each location. Those who came could take printed Facebook 'Likes' and put them next to art pieces they liked.
