Laptops, cell phones and tablets sound like items on an adult's Christmas list, but children also want more high-tech gadgets from Santa. Adults aren't the only ones asking Santa for a new cell phone or computer this year; children are too. But Patti Phillips remembers her childhood holidays as more simple and cost effective than they are today.

The I-15 Core Project is coming to a close. This seemingly eternal project lasted thirty-five months. On November 5th, all the lanes from Spanish Fork to Lehi on I-15 opened. People in Utah County can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, and there aren't orange barricades in the way.

Governor Gary Herbert says business is good in Utah County and will only get better. He considers Utah County his home and he's been a small business owner here. He says what makes Utah County unique is what makes Utah County successful. The Governor's speech to the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce focused on Utah's economy and how we are better off than most of the rest of the country. The Governor credits not only market forces and strategies but also the spirit of volunteerism and hard work he says are all over Utah County.

Hundreds gathered at the UCCU Center at Utah Valley University to pay their respects to a Utah County Border Patrol Agent. Nicholas J. Ivie was killed in a fire accident near the Mexico-Arizona border. Most that attended the gathering where the accident occurred were either friends or family, but even those that didn't know him left feeling some sort of connection and loss. People played bagpipes as the Tucson Sector of the US Border Patrol Honor Guard posted the colors for Nicholas J. Ivie. His brother Joel is also a border patrol agent and in the eulogy, Joel told stories of growing up with his brother. He described his brother as a man who loved God, his country and his family.

Riana Culp dreams of becoming an elementary school teacher and supporting her own family. However, before she does that, she wants to find a job to help her live independently and pay for her education.

No business wants to become a victim of fraud. A team of BYU Professors say they've developed a system where businesses can use their own financial statements to prevent things that could lead to bankruptcy. Information Systems Professor Anthony Vance was one of four professors to work on this system and he says that publicly available information plays a major role in detecting fraud.

It may seem like most college students are stressed about debt but recent rankings show that BYU students are better off than others. US News and World Report Ranks BYU as 5th in the nation for 'Least Debt' among it's students. This survey looks at the amount of money students spend on school and how much they still have when they graduate. Alex Dushku, Economics student at BYU, says it's no surprise that BYU students owe less by the time they get their diploma.

The first month of the school year brings more than just new students. It also brings young, inexperienced drivers to college towns like ours. Police officers and students like Lauren Wallace are preparing for the annual increase in car accidents.
