Video of the Day: Panguitch Lake Dam at risk, repair efforts offer relief to locals
The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office issued a flood watch to Panguitch and other nearby areas on Tuesday, April 9, because of visible dam cracking and potential dam failure. This escalated the dam to a Level 2 Emergency Situation. Building a buttress and a drop in water levels were good news for Panguitch, and the evacuation notice was lifted on April 12.

Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy has been drawing attention over the last week as what appear to be “volcanic smoke rings” rise over the island volcano. Locals have reported seeing these rings since April 2. The rings are actually vortex rings, which are made of condensed water vapor, not smoke.
