BYU Athletics announces mask policy for fall season

BYU Athletics announced Thursday that masks will be required to attend all indoor sporting events for the coming fall season.

Masks will be required for admission to indoor events such as volleyball or sitting in the club and press box seating for football games at LaVell Edwards Stadium. Outdoor events such as soccer and general football admission will not require masks.

The announcement comes following BYU’s decision to enforce masks for fall semester classes as well as recent counsel from the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to recommit to cautionary safety measures such as masks and vaccination.

The statement from BYU Athletics says the situation will be re-evaluated at the end of September based on COVID-19 cases and vaccination rates on campus and in the local community.
