January 20, 2012 12:00 AM
The Sundance Film Festival is taking place through Jan. 29 at various venues in Park City, Salt Lake City and the Sundance ski resort. Celebrities come to Utah to see films, but more importantly, to be seen. If you go to the festival and are lucky enough to get a photo of you with a celeb, send it to us - you might end up in the Friday 411, thus giving you and your celeb friend even more notoriety. Photos need to be at least 1 Mg, have a caption explaining who is in the photo and include the photographer's name. Also include your name, major, hometown and state. Send photos to Friday411@gmail.com by Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Monte L. Bean museum advancement
By
Kaye Nelson
January 03, 2012 12:00 AM
The Bean Life Science Museum has appointed Leigh A. Johnson as Associate Director for Research and Collections effective Jan. 3. Johnson replaces Jack Sites who has served as associate director of the museum for the last five and a half years. Sites has provided remarkable leadership and direction for the museum’s research efforts as well as curation of the museum’s research collections. He was also instrumental in the museum’s reaccreditation process. Johnson will now assume responsibility for the research and collections-related functions of the museum. For the last five years, Johnson has served as curator of the herbarium (vascularplant collection) – an assignment he will retain. He has also provided effective leadership for the herbarium’s databasing and digitization projects – a model for the museum’s other research collections.
