Video of the Day: Man conquers Mt. Kilimanjaro backwards to raise money for charity

Ben Stewart became the first person to hike up and down Kilimanjaro in Tanzania walking only backward. Stewart touched the Mweka gate sign on Feb. 14, marking an end of his eight-day journey. Stewart’s trek raised money for the British Heart Foundation, honoring his grandpa who had died of a heart attack.

Intermountain Life Flight announced a new program to transport K-9s who are ill or injured during their work. Utah Task Force 1’s K-9, Reeta, flew with Intermountain Life Flight. The air ambulance service in Salt Lake City was inspired to create the program after a K-9 was killed on the job in February 2022.

A skier triggered an avalanche at Dutch Draw, Conehead in Park City on Feb. 17. The video shows two skiers coursing down the slope. A third skier narrowly escaped the avalanche that had broken out. According to the Utah Avalanche Center, new snow in the area contributed to the 50-foot-wide soft slab avalanche.

Dawn Jacobsen Young from Salt Lake City was named the oldest female water skier by Guinness World Records in 2023. Now 92 years old, Young has been waterskiing for 63 years. Young is not only a big name in water sports — she was also the seventh General Primary President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1980-88.

11-year-old Beckham Bramwell earned the title of “Cougar Tail Kid” after devouring BYU’s most famous concession on the Jumbotron at two home men’s basketball games. Bramwell was first seen chomping on a Cougar Tail, a 15-inch maple bar, at the BYU vs. Kansas State game on Feb. 10. He was spotlighted yet again on Feb. 13, during the BYU versus UCF game.
