Former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson signs rookie contract

Former BYU quarterback and No. 2 NFL draft pick Zach Wilson officially signed his rookie contract with the New York Jets on Thursday following a brief holdout.

Wilson is set to earn $35.1 million in guaranteed salary over four years with a signing bonus of $22.9 million. Wilson was drafted second overall by the Jets in April but missed the first day of training camp as he and the team disputed over various details and clauses in the contract. Wilson is the last of the 2021 first-round draft picks to sign their rookie deal.

Wilson is projected to start at quarterback for the Jets after passing for 3,692 yards and 33 touchdowns in his junior season at BYU. Wilson will make his professional debut on Sept. 12 against the Carolina Panthers and former BYU teammate Brady Christensen, the offensive lineman drafted in the third round by Carolina.
