After the final launch of the space shuttle Atlantis in 2011, many were concerned and curious about what was going to happen to NASA and space travel in general. The space shuttles had been in service since 1981, and marked a milestone as the first reusable spacecraft ever. However, they were aging, and after the 2003 Columbia accident that cost the lives of the entire crew of 7 astronauts, NASA decided that the time to retire the space shuttles had come. In 2004 President Bush made the decision that NASA would retire the shuttles and begin work on a new space program with goals of sending mankind into deeper space than had been previously attempted.

April 15, 2012 will mark the 100 year anniversary of the Titanic's tragic sinking. Even 100 years after the fact, the Titanic still captures the imagination of people all over the globe. With its 100-year commemoration approaching, many people are going to be remembering the Titanic in various ways.

Virginia lawmakers dropped a bill they were trying to pass because of criticism from two surprising places: The Daily Show and Saturday Night Live. The lawmakers were pushing a bill that would have mandated that women considering an abortion would have to have an ultrasound before the procedure. The bill was dropped, and has since been rewritten to change the procedure to one less invasive. But many people are shocked that the leading antagonists for such a bill were the satirical late night TV shows.

Last Tuesday the finance ministers from the 17 nations that comprise the Eurozone met in Brussels to approve Greece's second financial bailout since 2008. According to CNN, the deal will pour $172 Billion into the Greek economy, thus alleviating their financial pain and avoiding what was seen as an inevitable default on the country's debt.

Greece is in serious financial trouble. Financial experts have been watching Greece since 2008. What they were concerned about was the fact that Greece was headed towards a depression. The reason this was cause for concern is because if Greece's economy were to tank, it would affect the economies of all 17 nations that are part of the EU, sending the entire union into a major recession.
