It had only been a week since BYU walked away with a win at the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl when Devin Kaufusi received a text from his coach, Kalani Sitake. Sitake, a coach that is known to be a supporter of tradition, asked if Devin wanted to carry on his family's tradition of wearing number 90 for BYU football.

Signing day is on Feb. 3 and BYU's new football coaching staff is hard at work on the road recruiting the newest crop of BYU Cougars.

BYU head football coach Kalani Sitake announced three new additions to the coaching staff Thursday afternoon. Steve Kafusi will remain to coach the defensive line, Mike Empey the offensive line and Nu'u Tafisi will be the head strength and conditioning coach.

BYU football's third-ranked defense took a hit when linebacker Ziggy Ansah went fifth in the NFL draft to the Detroit Lions. Ansah helped wreak havoc on opposing offenses the second half of last season, and many are hoping Bronson Kaufusi to do the same this season.

PROVO, Utah (March 1, 2013) — BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall today outlined additional leadership responsibilities of his coaching staff, announcing offensive coordinator Robert Anae will serve as assistant head coach, secondary coach Nick Howell as defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach Kelly Poppinga as special teams coordinator.
