BUTLER, Pa. (AP) — Former PresidentDonald Trumpwas the target of an apparent assassination attempt Saturday at a Pennsylvania rally, days before he was to accept the Republican nomination for a third time. A barrage of gunfire set off panic, and a bloodied Trump, who said he was shot in the ear, was surrounded by Secret Service and hurried to his SUV as he pumped his fist in a show of defiance.

A western New York man was arraigned on a reckless endangerment charge Thursday after a round he fired while target shooting struck a window at the Hill Cumorah complex, leading tourists to take cover and prompting a massive police presence at the religious site, state police said.

Cory Lee Henderson had a prior criminal record that included weapons possession and was sought by a gang task force, Winder said. He also had outstanding federal and state arrest warrants. (Weber County Jail)
