Students know that a familiar bell tower perches itself up on a hill, overlooking the BYU campus. What students don't know is what is kept inside and that somebody goes up the bell tower every day to play it.

Every day, a few BYU students go up the tower next to the Bean Museum to do their job — playing an instrument called a carillon.

BYU Student Ariel Peterson is a carillonneur for the BYU Carillon Tower. Carillon players use the backs of their fists to hit each key (Natalie Stoker).

BYU students are used to hearing the familiar tune of 'Come, Come, Ye Saints' played every hour at the BYU Centennial Carillon Tower. For a short period, however, students will have to rely on their own clocks rather than the hourly chimes as the 90-foot bell tower is being refurbished.
