Game Day Preparation — BYU cheer and stunt
BYU cheer and stunt is a major face of BYU. They are there cheering on the Cougars for football, women’s volleyball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball, not to mention the countless appearances they make throughout the year on the university's errand. This week the Universe looked into what the BYU cheer and stunt team does to prepare for game day.

BYU Cheer busy schedules
The average college student does not have enough hours in the week to finish everything required of them. The BYU cheer team has even more expected of them during the week. The team practices four times a week from 7-10 in the morning. Our reporter Sierra Phipps caught up with them during one of their practices.

BYU Cougarettes share their light through team unity
The Cougarettes begin a performance of their national championship-winning hip hop number. The women donned jerseys with the number 19 for the performance. The number 19 is special to the Cougarettes: it represents the year 2019, the number of dancers on the team and the team’s aspirations to win its 18th and 19th national championships. (Ty Mullen)

BYU Cheer and STUNT
STUNT is the fastest growing female sport in the country. It's derived from traditional cheer, but takes away the crowd-pleasing elements and focuses only on the technical and athletic parts of cheer.
