A new mac and cheese restaurant has opened in Provo, to a huge community response.
Everyone loves comfort food. At Roni's Mac Bar, they have taken it one step further with macaroni options from brisket mac and cheese, to grilled mac and cheese sandwiches.
The mac and cheese bar opened a few weeks ago. The grand opening was huge and even Cosmo the Cougar showed up. Roni's Mac Bar assistant manager Haylie Gibb said the event kept them busy the entire day.
"I know people started to line up at one in the morning at the front of the door. We had a line out the door probably until at least 10,” Gibb said.
The mac bar has gained an impressive 800,000 followers on TikTok. It's no surprise people recognize it as the viral mac and cheese place. However, the mac bar is not just blowing up online, it is also taking off in Provo.
"With the location, we do have a lot of college students but honestly we have a lot of families, older people, everyone. Who doesn't like mac and cheese?” Gibb said.
Since the mac bar is right by BYU, college students have been particularly excited about it.
"It has everything you could love: carbs and cheese. Most things are better when you add cheese to it,” said Rachel Alger, a BYU student from San Tan Valley, Arizona.
This is the fifth Roni's Mac Bar location to open its doors since the franchise launched in 2022. With the biggest grand opening that the Texas-based franchise has ever seen, Roni's Mac Bar is off to a great start in Provo.
