The weight room here at BYU needs some work. Every time someone tries to get in there is a line. There is usually a class in one and the other room is overcrowded and people are waiting to use a machine or other equipment or to even get in the room. Some of the equipment is old and falling apart. If the time was taken to update the equipment, it would greatly improve this situation. Another room that was just for students, not classes, would also be very helpful.

Regarding the correction of a correction of an error appearing in Thursday's paper, I thought I should extend the chain. The writer called 'ACT' an acronym. In reality, 'ACT' is never used as an acronym, since an acronym, by definition, forms a pronounced word, such as radar, laser, snafu, etc. We never call this test the 'act.' At any rate, the irony of the situation was even sweeter the second time.

With regards to those who have expressed grievances with university policy and the decisions of our administrators, I would like to say that at BYU, like any other university, there are politics. I know that these 'intra-politics' have, in the past, dictated the course of university action, but it is beyond my sphere of knowledge/guts to comment more specifically.

A letter to the editor accusing The Daily Universe of containing an excess of grammatical errors used the sentence 'what is the ACT test weeding out, anyway?' in reference to many BYU students' poor English skills.

So why doesn't someone do something about the testing center? We've heard plenty complaints -- standing in line for an hour and a half for a test that we fail anyway is hardly instrumental to an education. How can they expect us to get a date, let alone get married, if we have to spend all our money on late fees?
