Nani Falatea steps away from BYU women’s basketball
After a close game against Utah State, BYU's head coach, Amber Whiting, announced that Nani Falatea had stepped away from the program.
The reasons are still unknown as to why she suddenly walked away. Falatea missed the first couple of games due to an injury this season but was back for the LMU, Wyoming, and Utah games earlier this week.
Falatea recently announced her engagement to BYU offensive lineman, Kingsley Suamataia. Suamataia was ranked among the Top-30 Big 12 players in 2023 by College Football News. It is speculated that he could enter the 2024 NFL draft.
Is Nani Falatea following her soon-to-be husband somewhere? Either way, we wish the happy couple all the best.
It was a big night for the freshmen against the Aggies. Amari Whiting knows how to get those buckets when they matter most. Whiting and Woolston played some “clean up” in the fourth quarter, when Whiting made an aggressive steal and an assist to Kailey Woolston, taking the score to 57-50, for the Cougars.
Whiting knows how to get the Cougars into offensive play, and Woolston knows how to shoot the ball.
“They know who each other is. Amari knows that Kaylee’s a shooter and can stretch the floor, and that gives her driving lanes, and Kaylee knows to shoot whenever she’s open,” Coach Whiting said.
“They live together too so that chemistry is there. I’ve seen them grow; they’re hanging out all the time, and being best friends, so they have chemistry on and off the court. I love knowing that’s for four years,” said Coach Whiting.
The Cougars take on Boise State Saturday at the Marriott Center.
