BYU Softball releases schedule for 2024 season

BYU softball released its 2024 schedule as they make their Big 12 debut this spring.

The Cougars’ conference slate features a three-game series with each league opponent totaling 27 Big 12 games.

Four schools in the Big 12 do not have a softball program, being Kansas State, TCU, West Virginia and Cincinnati.

Conference games will begin on March 7 and conclude on May 5. Following the conference games will be the Phillips 66 Big 12 Softball Championship, which knowingly takes place in Oklahoma City, OK., at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium.

The tournament format places all 10 teams in a single elimination tournament, giving the top six conference finishers a first-round bye.

To get the ball rolling on their 54-game season, they will participate in four non-conference tournaments.

The Cougars will kick off Big 12 play by hosting Texas Tech and then travelling to Austin to face the Longhorns. BYU also welcomes Oklahoma State and Houston to Provo in back-to-back home games before making the trip to Florida and Oklahoma to compete against the Knights and the Sooners, both very notable games on the schedule, one being a matchup against the 2023 national champions (Oklahoma), and the former team of a current BYU Cougar, Maddie Bejarano (UCF).

They finish off their home slate by hosting Baylor and Iowa State before traveling to Kansas to face the Jayhawks, concluding conference play.

BYU finished their last year in the WCC with an impressive 35-17 record and look to start their Big 12 journey off strong. They are returning a large number of starters from last season and also welcome seven newcomers with freshmen Kate Dahle, Olivia Laney, Abbey Gillespie and Gianna Mares, as well as transfers Aleia Agbayani, Lyndsey Madrigal and Keila Kamoku.
