No. 6 BYU women’s soccer takes on No. 14 Texas in Austin Monday. Coming off their road win over Baylor, the Cougars seek to secure another conference win against the Longhorns.
Texas most recently suffered a tough loss at home with one second left of regulation against No. 25 Texas Tech bringing the Longhorns' season record to 7-2-1.
'It’s a great time to play Texas,' senior Bella Folino said. 'We’re on a high and they’re on a low so I think it’s going to be super competitive.”
After suffering a tough loss to Utah State and draw against TCU, the Cougars’ win against Baylor could not have come at a better time.
“We came off not a great week,” Folino said. “So we knew we just had to go out there and play our game.”
The 8-1-1 Cougars bring scoring powerhouses in with Erin Bailey and Allie Fryer who lead the team in goals with six apiece.
Texas counters with the top scorer in the Big 12 — Lexi Missimo — who leads with 12 goals, 15 assists and 71 shots.
The Cougars and Longhorns square off tonight at 6 p.m. MDT in Austin on the Longhorn Network.
