Utah head coach hints at 'massive shift' coming to the college football landscape
Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham hinted that the Utes' time in the Big 12 will be temporary in a press conference this week.
Whittingham has suggested a 'massive shift' in the college football landscape, indicating that Utah's Big 12 tenure may be brief.
Whittingham's comments came in response to a question about his feelings regarding the last-time matchups against schools like UCLA. 'Football has changed so much, we have gone years without much change and now it happens all the time.'
He further elaborated, saying, 'I can tell you right now, we'll play UCLA again down the road because it's gonna change again. There's gonna be a massive shift, and I think UCLA and Utah will probably end up in the same situation. Temporarily, yes, it's gonna be a few years before we play again. I think with the changes on the horizon, it'll be at some point back together again, somehow, some way.'
Utah, along with Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona State, had announced in early August their departure from the PAC-12 to join the Big-12. Last year, UCLA and USC announced their intentions to join the BIG-10, while Oregon and Washington announced this offseason that they would also be joining the BIG-10.
