BYU men's basketball adds prized transfer Marcus Adams Jr.

Marcus Adams Jr., a freshman top-50 recruit, has committed to BYU men's basketball after previously signing with both Kansas and Gonzaga earlier this year.

The 6-foot-8, 200-pound wing took his commitment announcement to the X platform, previously known as Twitter, on Sept. 2.

Adams signed with Kansas in April 2023, before transferring to Gonzaga on July 31. Only a month later, the 4-star forward contacted BYU hoops for an official visit and committed just a few days later.

While NIL plays a large role in most athletes’ commitment decisions, Adams made it clear that what most influenced his decision was his quick relationship with Mark Pope and his staff along with the overall positive BYU atmosphere.

“I already love the BYU nation, thanks for having my back everyone,” Adams announced to fans on X.

Adams played prep basketball at Nathaniel Narbonne high school in Los Angeles where he averaged 28.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in his final season.
