Snowboarder Blake Nielson was caught in an avalanche while snowboarding in Big Cottonwood Canyon in Salt Lake County on Jan. 8.
Nielson and his friends said they tested the snow before heading down the mountain, but the snow slid 1,300 feet, according to Nielson. Nobody was injured in the avalanche.
