Larry H. Miller Sports and Entertainment unveiled the Zions Bank Beehive Classic on July 21.
The Beehive Classic will be a basketball showcase and doubleheader at Vivint Smart Home Arena that features BYU, Utah, Utah State and Weber State.
'We are excited to announce the Zions Bank Beehive Classic, a celebration of community and basketball,' said LHMSE president Steve Starks. 'Our organization is thrilled to bring these four great schools, and their fans, together at Vivint Smart Home Arena for an annual one-day doubleheader.'
The Cougars will play Weber State in the inaugural event on Dec. 9, 2017 while Utah plays Utah State.
In 2018 BYU will play Utah while Utah State clashes with Weber State. BYU will face Utah State in 2019 while Weber State plays Utah.
Each university will get 4,500 tickets for the event. A ticket will provide access to both games played during the event. Student pricing will be available for lower bowl seating and pep bands and cheerleaders will also be participants at the event.
The Beehive Classic will take place shortly after Vivint Smart Home's $125 million renovations are complete.
'The four universities and their fans will be among the first to experience all the new upgrades to the arena,' said Vivint Smart Home Arena president Jim Olson. 'We are excited to create a Utah-flavored event of this caliber. No doubt, it will be a special evening for everyone involved when the Zions Bank Beehive Classic debuts in 2017.'
