The West Coast Conference champion BYU softball team will be heading to Columbia, Missouri, on Thursday to compete in the NCAA regionals against the No. 15 seed Missouri Tigers.

'We are excited to be a part of this year's NCAA tournament,' BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. 'We are equally excited to play in a great regional with three great components. It will be a challenge, but that is what the NCAA tournament is.'

The Cougars won the WCC title for the third year in a row after a 1-0 victory in a 12-inning game on May 13 against San Diego. The title marks BYU's eighth consecutive conference title over four different conferences.

Missouri will host BYU, Nebraska and Louisville at the double-elimination Columbia regionals this weekend

BYU was defeated 16-6 by Missouri earlier this year in the Mary Nutter Classic.
