The BYU football team announced on Wednesday that they will be conducting a series of firesides in 2016, including nearly weekly events in May and June.

“I like the idea of continuing the tradition of BYU firesides and look forward to reaching out to Cougar fans across the country,” said BYU head coach Kalani Sitake. “In addition to conducting the firesides featuring our team this spring and summer, we will have firesides during the season that will feature our alumni. We appreciate our great fans and hope they enjoy the firesides.”

Sitake, wide receivers coach Ben Cahoon and players Tuni Kanuch, Ului Lapuaho and Quin Ficklin participated in the inaugural spring fireside in Mesa, Arizona on April 24. The fireside followed BYU’s FanFest event the day prior in Mesa.

The BYU football team begins its season against the Arizona Wildcats at University of Phoenix Stadium on Sept. 3.

The upcoming firesides will take place in conjunction with other FanFest events, as well as in locations the football team will travel during the season.

With the exception of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day weekends, BYU will conduct a fireside each week from May 1 through June 26.

The alumni firesides will be conducted the evening before BYU road games and will give BYU fans nationwide the opportunity to hear from prominent alumni and members of the BYU athletic department.

The team also plans to conduct its annual fireside at the Utah State Prison during the season.

Additional details for each fireside will be disseminated in the local areas. Specific locations for the in-season alumni firesides will be announced closer to the start of the season.
