Jack Damuni was hired as the BYU football program's director of player personnel, BYUcougars.com reported Wednesday. Damuni will also serve as the on-campus recruiting coordinator.
Damuni graduated from BYU with a degree in sociology and played strong safety under LaVell Edwards from 1993-1994. He is remembered for his two interception game against Utah in 1993.

Before returning to BYU, Damuni worked as a teacher and assistant football coach. Damuni is certified in teaching special education and has taught for the state of Hawaii since 1996. He also served as an assistant football coach at Maui High School, Mesa Community College and Baldwin High School during that same time frame. Damuni served as the Hawaii Speed and Quickness-Complex Coordinator/Coach from 2009-2015 and was the Vice President of Island Football Magazine from 2000-2015.
Damuni and his wife Shalei Nani have four children.
