BYU women’s soccer defender Sarah Chambers Gardner was named to the Academic All-District 8 First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday, Oct. 29 for the second year in a row.
Gardner is a senior studying chemical engineering and has a 3.9 GPA. She has started in five of the 16 games she's played in this season.
Gardner’s most memorable moment this season occurred when she scored the tiebreaker in the 83rd minute against San Diego, giving BYU the 1-0 victory.
Gardner was also named to the WCC Commissioner’s Honor Roll Gold Honors all three of her previous seasons. Other academic awards include being on the WCC All-Academic Team in 2014 and as well as an honorable mention on the same team in 2015.
Gardner will be on the ballot for the Academic All-American team. First, second and third team honorees will be announced in November.
