The Thursday announcement extends the annual battle for the Old Wagon Wheel through 2020.

The Cougars will meet the Aggies at Romney Stadium in Logan on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, and will host the game a year later on Friday, Oct. 2, 2020, at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The newly announced games will continue the series' tradition of alternating between Provo and Logan each year.

'I believe it's important to continue this longstanding football series with Utah State,' BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe said in a press release. 'There is a lot of history and tradition between the two universities, and the recent games have been very competitive.'

Holmoe said the in-state competition between BYU and Utah State has been improving.

'Scott Barnes has done an outstanding job at USU, and the Aggies have gained strength in all areas of their football program,' he said. 'I've loved the in-state rivalry with USU as a player, coach and administrator and look forward to these future games.'
