Women's volleyball takes off for a pair of road matches

The BYU women's volleyball team hits the road for California to play Pepperdine on Oct. 3 and Loyola Marymount on Oct. 5 for the first road conference games of the season.

BYU is the last remaining undefeated team in the West Coast Conference. The Cougars improved their standing to 10-3 (3-0 WCC) after beating Saint Mary's in a five-set match and defeating Pacific in a three-set sweep.

The Cougars first face Pepperdine on Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. PDT, who stands at 8-4 (2-2 WCC). This will be the 23rd matchup between the two teams, and BYU leads the overall series 14-8.

Pepperdine returns four starters from last year's roster, and in 2012 the Waves finished 20-12 (8-8 WCC).

On Oct. 5 at 12 p.m. PDT the Cougars will face Loyola Marymount 8-5 (3-1 WCC). BYU has never lost to the Lions and looks to continue the streak.

With only one loss in conference, the Lions look to defeat the Cougars. Loyola Marymount returns five starters from last year's roster; in 2012 the Lions finished 18-13 (8-8 WCC).
