The Cougars are 6-3 going into this match following two easy wins at home against Montana State and UC Irvine. However, all three of the Cougars' losses this season have come on the road, and this match will be played up north on the Utes' home court.

Utah is undefeated at 9-0, with six returning starters from its 2012 squad. This record ties the Utes for best start in school history.

The last time this in-state rivalry played, BYU swept the Utes 3-0. The Cougars also lead the all-time series 66-29.
