The BYU Women's Soccer team is hosting the University of Utah Friday in the most recent chapter of the Deseret First Duel rivalry.
The Cougars come in as the No. 6 ranked team in the nation and look to build on the momentum of their 4-2 victory against No. 25 LSU. The Utes are coming off two consecutive double-overtime scoreless ties and enter the game with a 1-0-2 record.
Jaiden Thornock controls the ball against UVU. Thornock and the Cougars play the Utah Utes on Friday at South Field.
The Cougars look to avoid a repeat of last year when they were shut out 1-0 in Salt Lake City. In that game, BYU outshot Utah 20 to 5, but could not find the back of the net. It is unlikely BYU will be held scoreless again as the team has scored 15 goals in the first four games of this season. A win would add to the Cougars' 13-game home undefeated streak in the regular season.
The Women's Soccer program hopes to enjoy another well attended game. The most recent home game against Nebraska brought a record breaking crowd of more than 5,000. The game will be Friday, Sept 6 at 7 p.m. at South Field on BYU Campus.
