BYU will end the regular season with a road game against the No. 13 Arizona State Sun Devils Tuesday night in a tune-up for the WCC tournament.
“We are going to see some good pitching from them,” head coach Mike Littlewood said. “We wanted some live at bats to keep us sharp and be competitive in the tournament.”
The Cougars (30–19, 15–9 WCC) are coming off a series sweep against Saint Mary’s to claim the third seed in this weekend’s conference tournament and are on a six-game winning streak. ASU (34–17–1, 15–12 PAC-12) finished in fourth place in conference play and is coming off a loss to rival Arizona on Sunday.
The game could have a hefty impact on the Cougars’ shot at the NCAA tournament.
“We have to beat ASU and finish first or second in the tournament to have a chance to go on to the NCAA tournament,” Littlewood said. “We have to have a good showing.”
BYU will start lefty Mark Anderson (4–1, 4.43) on the mound. The game will start at 6:30 p.m. PDT and coverage can be found online at BYUCougars.com for live stats and audio streaming.
Jacob Hannemann and the Cougars travel to take on Arizona State in their final regular season game.
