BYU softball hosts four-game series against Saint Mary's

The BYU softball team hosts Saint Mary's in a four-game series Saturday at Gail Miller Field at 11 a.m.

BYU is coming off two big 8-0 wins against Southern Utah in Tuesday's doubleheader at home.

The Cougars currently hold a 15-5 record in the conference and are seeded No. 1. The Gaels trail a few seats behind, with a record of 20-27 on the season and 11-9 in PCSC play.

BYU will take on Saint Mary

BYU will take on Saint Mary's in a 4-game series on Friday and Saturday.

Senior shorstop JC Clayton has been a consistent leader on the BYU softball team. She had a record-breaking year, becoming the all-time leader in career hits at BYU. Bailie Hicken leads the team in Pacific Coast Softball Conference statistics with a .367 clip. Alexandra Hudson Shamo leads the conference with an on-base percentage of .473.

The Gaels are led by Megan Smith, who is hitting a .309 clip with a team-high 26 RBIs. With a season batting average of .202, Saint Mary's is far below BYU's average of .289. However, the Gaels have out-hit BYU in home runs with 23 to the Cougar's 14.

This will be the first time BYU and Saint Mary's play at Gail Miller Field. BYU has an overall record of 4-0 against the Gaels, and this conference series will be the last of the season for both teams.

The BYU softball team will recognize its seniors JC Clayton, Bailie Hicken, Hannah Howell and Alexandra Hudson Shamo on Saturday after the conclusion of the series against Saint Mary's.

Friday and Saturday's doubleheaders will be available via live stats. All games will also be broadcast on BYUtv for those fans who cannot make it out to the Gail Miller Field.
