Utah State seeking revenge

A stampede is sweeping through the state and making its way to Provo. The Utah State Aggies are on a roll and are trying to add to an already successful season with a win against BYU.

The Aggies are hoping to do something they haven’t done since 1974 – beat both BYU and Utah in the same season. They already knocked off the Utes and if they win tonight, they can rightfully claim the top spot in the state.
BYU and Utah State split the last two decisions, both winning at home. After last season’s heartbreaking loss to BYU, the Aggies return to Provo with revenge on their mind. BYU quarterback Riley Nelson knows they are in for a great game.

“They beat us real good two years ago and then we had to score with eleven seconds last year to beat them…We know we’re going to get their best shot and they’re better this year than they have been the last two years, so we expect a dog fight,” said Nelson.

The Aggies return eight starters on offense including dual-threat quarterback Chuckie Keaton, who is completing almost 70% of his passes this season when he’s not handing the rock to speedster Kerwynn Williams. BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall’s defense will have their hands full.

“Offensively a lot of weapons and spreading the field and obviously a mobile quarterback, good running back, nice receivers and a good scheme and solid on special teams and so hard to say until you play someone but at least at first glance I’m impressed,” said Mendenhall.

The Aggies comes in to Provo with a 4-1 record. Their only loss came off a last-second missed field goal at Wisconsin. Along with their offensive weapons, Utah State will bring a top-20 scoring defense to the game.

The Cougars are seven-point favorites tonight and will need to rely once again on their own defense if they want to send the Aggies back to Logan disappointed.
