Tech Blog: Pinterested?

174

For most people, Pinterest is a place to share recipes, fashion, photos and quotes. It’s an online world of happy, domestic things saved for girls who dream of being a mom. However, Pinterest is proving itself as an incredibly impactful tool for marketing. The site is driving more traffic to company websites than YouTube, Google+, and LinkedIn combined, according to a recent study by Shareaholic.

Pinterest is quickly becoming the new socialite of social sites. In December alone it registered 7 million new users and continues to add more daily. Businesses such as Whole Foods use Pinterest to pin pictures of food and food art to drive traffic to their site, as well as urging customers to be environmentally responsible through recycling and healthy eating. Many artists and small businesses pin pictures of their products and artwork in order to gain a following on the site.

What is now left to be seen is whether large business and retailers will hop on this new train and whether Pinterest marketing would work for them.
