Recently I obtained a copy of BYU-Idaho's newspaper, 'The Scroll'. I was very impressed with the professional quality of the articles, photographs, and reader friendly format.
Reading through the paper made me very self conscious of our newspaper, 'The Daily Universe'. I have been constantly dissapointed with the qualitiy of articles and other aspects of 'The Daily Universe'. Many of the articles are poorly written and awkward resembling articles I have read in High School newspapers. Articles in 'The Daily Universe' are unsatisfactorily researched, unprofessional, and lack useful information.
Since BYU-Provo sets the example for the three BYUs in many things, I see no reason why it cannot set the example in journalistic excellence as well. Consider this a plea for improvement,
sincerely,
Aaron Woods
