9/23 Editorial: Let's call it quits

None of the following remarks are directed at the men and women in the armed forces. They have always given their lives bravely for their

country and should be respected. My remarks are directed at the leadership of our country.

We have been lied to. We were told that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and was a threat. A tragic war later no evidence of weapons of mass destruction has been found. Saddam was a vicious dictator and deserved to be overthrown, but so do Kim and Kadafi.

In the process of overthrowing Saddam hundreds of U.S. soldiers, thousands of Iraqi military and as many as 5,000 civilians are dead. The President says we've liberated Iraq, if by liberated he means bombed the heck

out of. We've all seen the cheering Iraqis in the streets. Well imagine the pictures you don't see of grief stricken families and destruction.

Saddam is out of power, Bin Laden doesn't have a strong hold in Afghanistan any more, but what did we really accomplish. They're both still alive while someone's dad or little brother is dead. It is time for a change in U.S.

foreign policy. Instead of fighting terrorists we're creating more of them with our arrogance and destruction. War never did anything but breed

misunderstanding and pain.
