The Viewpoint on Canadians, although mildly amusing, was rather old news. Any Canadian going to the Y has endured the weekly laughs at the way we speak. Just for the record, it is spelled 'toque' not 'touk', and you would be hard pressed to find any Canadians that actually say 'chesterfield.'
That being said, as a Canadian, I thought I would give some advice that might actually be practical to Americans when dealing with their fellow Canadians:
If I am from the province of Alberta, I won't know Tom from Ontario, Dick from Quebec and Harry from Saskatchewan. Even if they are from Alberta, the chances are slim to none that I will know your freshman roommate from Cardston or your mission buddy from Edmonton.
Contrary to popular belief, our national anthem 'O Canada' is not sung to the tune of 'O Christmas Tree.' The only similarity is that they start with 'O'.
It is pronounced Canuck not Can-ook.
If you have a sweet tooth, you will want to experience what chocolate should taste like by buying a chocolate (not candy) bar from Canada. There is a great little store on Centre (not Center) Street that imports them.
To all of you non-Canadians, best of luck as you learn more about us 'alien' creatures.
