Rabbi Meir Soloveichik discussed Jerusalem’s significance and the 'miracle' of the Jewish people during the Wheatley Institution's Truman G. Madsen Lecture on Eternal Man.

In 1979, aboard a Greek ship called the Stella Solaris, President Spencer W. Kimball, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Elder Howard W. Hunter of the Quorum of the Twelve announced to a small group of students that Brigham Young University would build a permanent educational and religious complex in Jerusalem. The center would later be known as the BYU Jerusalem Center for Near Eastern Studies.

BYU religion professor Brad Wilcox spoke in an Education Week session on Thursday, August 22, about the role members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints play in the gathering of Israel.

David A. Whitchurch, professor of ancient scripture, spoke on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, about the LDS Church's historic and current presence in Jerusalem. He said students should continue to pray for the Holy Land. (Ryan Turner)
