Yellowstone park reopens after changes wrought by flood

(AP) — Hundreds of cars, trucks and recreational vehicles were backed up in long lines at entrances to Yellowstone National Park as it partially reopened Wednesday morning following record floods that reshaped the park’s rivers and canyons, wiped out numerous roads and left some areas famous for their wildlife viewing inaccessible, possibly for months to come.

National Park Service celebrates centennial, parks in Utah face record attendance

The National Park Service is celebrating its centennial birthday this year. The NPS was created on August 25, 1916 under the direction of President Woodrow Wilson. All National Parks offered free admission from Aug. 25 to Aug. 28. Centennial celebrations took place across the nation, including the creation of a 'living emblem' in Washington, D.C. on the National Mall.

National Parks: The true modern marvel

I grew up driving through the windy roads of Yellowstone National Park, camping in thick wooded forests and eating picnics in the shadows of the Tetons. I have mountain biked on dirt paths, been on hikes in the Teton mountain range and canoed down beautiful, calm, pristine rivers.
