Ansah, Unga leading the way for former BYU defenders in the NFL

Defensive players currently lead the way in representing BYU in the NFL. Former first-round pick Ezekiel Ansah continues to thrive as one of the league's premier pass rushers while Uani' Unga, Kyle Van Noy, Alani Fua, and Daniel Sorensen hope to make a name for themselves in the pros. Each played on BYU's defense over the past three years.

Cougars give their take on controversial targeting rules

The controversial targeting foul recently instituted by the NCAA is aimed at reducing concussions and spinal injuries of offensive players. A defensive player flagged for targeting will be ejected from the game, suspended for at least another half following the game, and the team is then a assessed a 15-yard penalty, giving the opposing team an automatic first down.

Bronco Mendenhall announces BYU coaching staff leadership structure

PROVO, Utah (March 1, 2013) — BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall today outlined additional leadership responsibilities of his coaching staff, announcing offensive coordinator Robert Anae will serve as assistant head coach, secondary coach Nick Howell as defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach Kelly Poppinga as special teams coordinator.

With a little over 5 minutes left in the opening game of the 2011 season against Ole Miss, the Cougars were trailing 13-7. Ole Miss had the ball on their own 21-yard line. The quarterback took the snap as BYU applied quick pressure — fumble. As BYU recovered it in the end zone, they'd succeeded. Touchdown, BYU.
