Good news Thursday: Soup kitchen feeds the unemployed, figurines bring life to small spaces
La Morada, a small Mexican restaurant in the Bronx, serves more than their acclaimed Oaxacan food. They also function as a soup kitchen for those who need food during the pandemic. As a family business owned by immigrants, Yajaira Saavedra and her parents own the restaurant and employ immigrants looking for work. When the pandemic began, there was no question that they would turn their restaurant into a soup kitchen.

Readers' Forum June 1
In today’s world, there’s increasing danger at public events. In the past couple years, we’ve seen the Boston Marathon bombing, the 'Dark Night' shooting, the Paris bombing, school shootings, and more recently, the Belgium bombing. These tragedies have not only hurt the people involved, but have had a ripple effect on hundreds, even thousands of people who have been deeply moved by these events. When will the world decide to protect its people?

Opinion Outpost Mar. 29
Brussels does not simply represent change in the terrorists, it also portends great change (or future failure) for European security services. Post-Paris, the European Union’s open borders were on life support; post-Brussels, the Schengen Agreement that requires such reliance on European counterparts is all but dead. As terrorists move freely about, a borderless Europe is already challenging, but when combined with bordered European security and intelligence services, the result is tragically predictable.
