Several BYU standouts hope to hear their names called in 2025 NFL Draft

Several BYU football players are drawing plenty of interest from NFL scouts as the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, with defensive end Tyler Batty at the forefront.

Batty, the only Cougar invited to the prestigious 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, stands out due to his constant energy on defense, ability to make big plays consistently and respected leadership among teammates. Experts expect him to be selected during the draft weekend.

Another player catching scouts' attention is Connor Pay, an offensive lineman appreciated for his versatility. Pay has started numerous games at both center and guard, showing he can adapt quickly — something NFL teams highly value. Scouts have praised Pay’s intelligence on the field, solid technique, and leadership qualities, positioning him comfortably in mid-to-late-round projections.

Offensive tackle Caleb Etienne, a transfer from Oklahoma State, has significantly boosted his profile since arriving at BYU. Etienne’s impressive size and athletic ability have made scouts take notice, particularly after he earned a spot on the All-Big 12 First Team. He took advantage of the Big 12 Pro Day to further showcase his potential, making himself attractive to teams needing size and strength on the offensive line.

In the secondary, cornerback Jakob Robinson has been turning heads despite being smaller than typical NFL corners. Robinson makes up for his size with quickness, agility and great instincts, consistently making key plays for BYU. His participation in the East-West Shrine Bowl allowed him to demonstrate these skills against top competition, significantly boosting his visibility among professional scouts.

Wide receiver Darius Lassiter is also attracting NFL interest thanks to his blend of size, athleticism, and skill — qualities scouts regularly look for in pro receivers. Lassiter’s performance during BYU's Big 12 Pro Day, especially in agility and speed drills, could have a big impact on his chances of landing a spot in the NFL.

The 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled for April 24–26 at Lambeau Field and the nearby Titletown District in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

For these BYU athletes, it’s a weekend that could dramatically change their lives.
