PARIS – BYU alumna Whittni Orton-Morgan secured a personal best and finished 13th in the 5000-meter final race on Monday at Stade De France.
Racing in her first Olympics, Orton-Morgan finished the race in 14 minutes and 53 seconds
Orton-Morgan qualified for the finals during a preliminary heat on Friday after finishing sixth in her heat with a time of 15 minutes and two seconds. The former Cougar improved her race time by 9 seconds in just three days and overcame her previous personal best.
Although her Olympic journey has come to an end, Orton-Morgan’s training partner and former teammate Courtney Wayment is headed to the 3000-meter steeplechase finals on Tuesday at 1:14 pm MDT.
