Prior to his mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Seljaas was a prolific shooter from beyond the arc, averaging 50% from 3-point range.
Later in his career, Seljaas was part of the 2019-20 BYU squad that finished with a 24-8 record, led by Yoeli Childs, TJ Haws and Jake Toolson. In Mark Pope’s first season as head coach, the team had high postseason hopes that were ultimately dashed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Seljaas makes the move from FIT/One Würzburg Baskets in Germany where he spent the last two years playing.
During the 2024–25 season, Seljaas averaged 14.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.7 steals per game in the German Basketball Bundesliga.
In the Basketball Champions League, he elevated his performance with averages of 17.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 10 games.
Notably, NBA legend Tony Parker is the team president of ASVEL.
The name ASVEL is an acronym for "Association Sportive de Villeurbanne Éveil Lyonnais," which translates to "Sports Association of Villeurbanne and Lyon Awakening" in English. It reflects the club’s origins as a merger of two teams: one from Villeurbanne and another called Éveil Lyonnais.
