BYU gymnastics earns season-high score at the 'Les Olson IT Best of Utah'

WEST VALLEY CITY — The BYU gymnastics team earned a season-high 195.750 in the sixth annual “Les Olson IT Best of Utah” meet at the Maverick Center Monday night.

The quad meet also included Utah, Utah State and Southern Utah. The Utes won with a first-place score of 197.950, followed by Southern Utah (196.175), Utah State (196.000) and BYU.

The Maverik Center was crowded with fans from all four schools filling many of the 12,600 seats in the gym.

ROTATION ONE

The Cougars competed on beam in the first rotation of the night, finishing with a season-high team score of 49.025. Sophie Dudley scored a personal season high of 9.750, up from her previous 9.725. Alilah made a fantastic season debut with a score of 9.750.

At the end of round one BYU was in third place behind the University of Utah and Utah State.

ROTATION TWO

BYU spent round two on the floor exercise. Eliza Millar-Crossman led out with a score of 9.825, but BYU finished the rotation in fourth place with a 97.700

ROTATION THREE

For rotation three, BYU competed on the vault. Kylie Eaquinto brought home the team high score with a 9.825, the team finished with an event score of 48.800 and finished the rotation with a score of 146.500, which left them remaining in fourth place.

ROTATION FOUR

The Cougars spent the final rotation of the night on the uneven bars. Kylie Eaquinto brought in the high score again with a 9.875. The team’s total score for uneven bars was 49.250.

BYU finished the night in fourth place with a final score of 195.750. Addie Glazier had a big night though. After suffering a fall on the uneven bars on Friday against Southern Utah, she was named BYU’s MVP for the night and brought home a season high-score of 9.825.
