BYU softball dominates in first fall game

While the BYU softball season is still months away, the Cougars have a chance in September and October to play exhibition games against local competition, known as Fall Ball.

BYU opened with a dominating 16-2 win over Snow College Wednesday night at Gail Miller Field.

Energy was high during the game. Early on, BYU started to take control on the field and in the batter’s box. In the bottom of the second, the Cougars put up four runs, while the Badgers only put on one. BYU later topped that in the bottom of the sixth, when it put up six runs.

During the game BYU's Lindy Milkowski and Danica Acosta led the team. Each had two runners batted in. Acosta ended up going 2 for 2 during her at-bats.

With five different pitching changes, and 13 total strikeouts for the Cougars, the Badgers were stumped and only got two runs on the board. These runs were spread apart as the first one happened in the second inning and the then second run wasn’t scored until the seventh.

The second inning was the early turning point of the game and it stayed in the Cougars' favor all night long. BYU finished with a total of 12 hits and 12 RBI, while allowing eight hits and two RBI.

Near the end of the game, Milkowski hit the night's only home run. This was Milkowski’s first game off of an ALC injury that occurred last fall. The dugout was electric as the Cougars ran out to greet their teammate at the plate. The energy that this team had was unmatched as they kept scoring run after run.
