Before the rivalry matchup Saturday between BYU and Utah, both school’s presidents endorsed an initiative to keep the rivalry lighthearted and to do good for the state of Utah.
The initiative is called “Rival Right," which promotes keeping the rivalry competitive, but never letting it get personal.
Earlier today @BYU & @UUtah jointly announced a community initiative around the #BYUvsUTAH rivalry game next week called #RivalRight. The two universities are re-establishing the food drive that existed for years & encouraged fans to donate to the @utahfoodbank or @CASFB.… pic.twitter.com/Xro5bMqYVf

Both BYU President Shane Reese and Utah President Taylor Randall playfully reminisced and celebrated the pride of their respective schools' football teams, with a message to remember that there is more than the game.
“However hot the rivalry gets, you don’t let the competition get in the way of common humanity,” said President Reese.
"Rival Right" also includes an “all-out blitz on hunger” food drive across Utah. The drive began on Nov. 2 and goes until Nov. 27.
